Alexandria San Diego Tech Center Building E
Nicholas Reindel was an Engineer at Coffman Engineers, Inc. for the design and construction phases of this project. The Alexandria SDTC Building E is an approx. 200,000 sq. ft. structure that features lab/office space throughout five elevated levels and one basement level. Nicholas attended design team meetings, performed structural analysis, assisted preparation of construction documents, and attended structural observations.
The gravity load-resisting system of the structure is structural steel, while basement walls are concrete and masonry. The elevated floors were constructed of composite steel beams with concrete fill over metal deck. Floor lab areas have an enhanced loading criteria of 125 pounds per sq. ft. (live load) to accommodate lab use. Special steel moment-resisting frames are utilized for the seismic force-resisting system.
